This post covers last week as well. All material was placed in the Capzle.

As part of my project, my 7th graders will be creating inspirational posters for the hallways at school. We will take pictures and edit in Lightroom before choosing the ones that work best for what they want to communicate. Additionally, the 8th graders will be creating a “Welcome to Milton Middle School” video for the incoming 6th graders that will be distributed to the feeder schools. The goal is to help the students feel more comfortable with their soon-to-be new environment by walking them through the hallways and meeting their future teachers.

Amazing Grace from Tanya Hill on Vimeo.

Well, spring break was less than "springy" and I enjoyed my recliner the whole week. So, I waited until I returned to school and went with Holy Week theme. I had some of my students do some drawings to commemerate the events surronding what I believe is the life changing/saving events of the death, ressurection of Jesus Christ.

Nostalgia from Tanya Hill on Vimeo.

This weeks assignment was nostalgia. Nothing in my memory, or present for that matter, means as much to me as my church/church family. You see, from infancy on, my mother took me to church. Our lives were centered around family and church. Since most of my family went to my church that made this "bond" even stronger. I can remember all the people who have gone on and the lasting impressions they have left on my life. Their constant love for, and faithfulness to the church showed me how exciting serving God and others can be. I have my tried to follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before me. It is my desire to share that same love with the those around me now and in the future. Using the bosses camera, because mine is broke, kept me very flustered. So a few clips are blurry before I realized the auto focus was on. I guess it is a good learning tool to see the difference in manual and auto focus in movie mode. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES!

This is after editing.  I added a small vignette and tweaked the colors and exposure.
This is before lightroom editing.

All of these pictures are the first attempts at light painting.  Really cool, but need a lot of work.

My 8th graders were helping me work with light. As you can see in this picture, the boy looks like his head is spinning.  We actually figured out how to take the shot without making it look that way - however, considering the message we were trying to communicate the spinning head is perfect!

I took the "Red" topic and Valentine's Day and combined  them.  So when I think of Valentine's day I think of love and my heart immediately goes to the one who taught me how to love and loved me even when I was pretty unlovable - my mother.  The jewelry box was my inspiration - it was my mothers.  When I was a little girl and even as a young adult I would always get in mom's jewelry box and try everything on.  She loved diamond and I do too.  The dress is her wedding dress.  The sheet music is the original copy that she used to sing at my wedding as well as a multitude of other weddings.  The figurine is the angel of remembrance which actually belonged to her. Even the red material in the background was material she purchased to have my bridesmaid's dresses made for my wedding.

Rain, rain, brings a smile anyway!

My 8th grade class was given the task of creating a human smile.  I put 2 girls in charge.  I think I had more fun watching them try to get everyone to do what they wanted than I had taking the pics!!!!

This was a picture created from the table decorations at my uncle's 70th birthday party. I took the decorations out of the vase to create the "smile".

OK, so the top picture is the same shot that I used for class without the tree. The second shot was taken by my daughter while practicing with the WV quiz bowl team.  Very rarely do I like pictures of myself. However, this captures the genuine joy I have when working with the quiz bowl team.  We are having a blast.  Making the move to Milton Middle School was one of the best decisions I have ever made. By the way - we plan to dominate the RESA Region 2 West Virginia History Bowl tournament!!!

Both pictures were taken this morning as I was going out to work.  I planned to leave a few minutes early in anticipation of a great sunrise.  Though the sunrise was not too colorful this view atop my hill was spectacular.  I am always amazed at the handywork I witness each morning.  I think creation speaks for itself and there are really no words to describe such beauty.

All of these pictures were taken at Riviera Golf Course.  I grew up and attend church near here and have always marveled at the beautiful landscape.
As a child we spent many days playing around the railroad tracks, placing a penny on the rail and waiting for the train to come by and blow his whistle.  Pictures such as this evoke many memories.
